Natural Anti-Aging Remedies

Anti-aging remedies are all over the market nowadays. Let’s all face it; we don’t want to look our age. We want to look 5-10 years younger than we really are. It just makes us more physically attractive that way. Much as anti-aging creams and lotions might work on some, it’s still a bit risky since we really don’t know what they put in there. There might even be harmful chemicals that would speed the aging process or make your body dependent on the stuff. The best anti-aging remedies? Natural ones. Straight from Mother Nature herself.

How does anti-aging work?

Sagging skin, wrinkles, lines, and the general look of aging is all because of how our cells regenerate. At some point, the regenerative process slows down with age. On top of that, the environment we live in contributes a lot to our aging process. Toxins and harmful chemicals that our body has to fight off take a toll on our bodies and impairs the regeneration process of our cells. The fresh air our skin needs for that youthful glow is blocked by all those buildings and the smog that come from cars and factories. The water we drink isn’t as fresh as it used to be. The food we eat isn’t as natural as it should be. All these contribute to aging, and it shows. A lot of anti-aging products don’t reverse anything. Our bodies will age no matter what we do. What anti-aging products really do is either slow the process down the best it could or make the signs of aging barely visible. This all helps a lot with our appearance and actually makes it seem like the aging process is stopped or reversed. But again, we don’t know what they put in that stuff.

How do you prevent the signs of aging?

A lot of fresh air will do not only your body wonders in the fight against aging, but will also do wonders for your skin. Routine exercise also helps a lot against aging, as we might all know, there are countless benefits to exercise. Particularly, exercise that involves a cardio workout. Running and swimming are at the top of the list for cardio exercises.

Eating fiber rich foods help with getting rid of the toxins in our body, and a healthy dose of antioxidants won’t hurt either. The best antioxidant-rich food that Mother Nature can provide are berries. Add ½ cup to a cup of blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, or strawberries to your everyday meals and you’ll get a ton of antioxidants that will help you fight aging. You can mix these berries with yogurt for that added boost to your digestive health.

A lot of fruits might also help you with the fighting off the aging process. The lovely Salma Hayek swears by a fruit and vegetable cleanse as her way of keeping herself lovely and looking youthful. Fruits and veggies rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C such as oranges, lemons, carrots, celery, guava, and a ton of other fruits will help with keeping yourself looking youthful. The fastest way to get these into your system? Pop them all in a blender and make yourself a nice, refreshing, vitamin-rich fruit and vegetable juice.

To top it all off, a good amount of sleep is crucial to keeping yourself looking as good as 10 years ago. Scientific tests show that if you burn the midnight oil too often, your body does double the work that it normally does. That means your body ages twice faster. So make sure you get about 7-8 hours of sleep every day. Taking care of yourself is the best natural way to age.

Freckles: What They Are and What Causes Them

Freckles come in different sizes, but the most common ones look like the periods we make at the end of a sentence scattered all over our skin. Some people find freckles adorable, while some would rather live without them.

What are freckles?

Freckles are random spots of melanocytes that have accumulated at certain areas in the skin. They’re most common in areas that are exposed to the sun; the cheeks, forehead, arms, neck, sometimes even your legs. These also vary in color from dark reddish brown, dark brown, to black. Freckles become darker due to sun exposure or exposure to UV light.

What causes freckles?

As already mentioned, the main culprit behind freckles is exposure to sunlight. Alternative methods for tanning that mimic the UV rays of the sun also causes freckles. Whichever part of the body is exposed to the stuff, freckles are likely to occur. This especially applies to those of us with fair, light skin. You might also notice that with lessened sun exposure, the freckles you have become lighter. This is because the concentrations of melanin in the freckles are lessened since they’re no longer needed for your skin’s protection.

Are freckles bad?

You might have seen freckles on people as young as 1 to 2 years of age. Freckles are, more often than not, non-cancerous. Freckles are simply melanin formations on the skin caused by the sun, which activated the melanin in the first place.

Freckles are usually flat. When you run your finger over them, you won’t be able to feel them. They’re simply visible spots on the skin. But when they start acting weird, that’s when you should likely see a dermatologist and ask if there’s anything to be concerned about.

When should I see a doctor about my freckles?

You should see a dermatologist about your freckles when they start to grow in size. You should also see a dermatologist when they start to become warts instead of adorable little flecks on your skin. You’ll know it’s a wart when it starts to protrude and grow into something that looks
like a dark boil.

You should also see a dermatologist when you think you have too many freckles all over your skin. Too many freckles might indicate an abnormality in your skin’s melanin production, and could be caused by underlying conditions other than sun exposure.
